The yearr is 1847 and Ireland is experiencing the worst year of the splendid Famine. Martin Feeney (Frecheville), is serving in the British army as an Irish Ranger stationed in Afghanistan following the warfare. however, he abandons his publish and sets off for domestic to be together with his circle of relatives. On his arrival in ireland, Feeney is faced with an unjust gadget in operation which has visible his usa ravaged by famine along with his mom been one of the many victims that has already starved to death, his brother has been hanged by using an English choose, and compelled evictions and living demolitions have pressured the people to live on the tough iciness on my own. In response, the hierarchy recruit Feeney’s vintage navy comrade and pal Hannah (Weaving) to tune down him and put a stop to his wrath. Hannanh is followed on his adventure by Pope (Fox) who is an absurd snobbish British officer and by using an young idealistic private Hobson (Keoghan). they are joined by means of Conneely (Rea) who is an Irish Language translator and is informed of the region.
